     Apples played important roles during various holidays. For instance, Halloween is traditionally celebrated with apple-bobbing games, candy apples, and apple cider. In fact, the 31st of October happens also to be National Apple Caramel Day. Especially numerous traditions related to the apple occur during the winter holidays. For instance, initially, Christmas stockings were filled with apples or oranges, in Germany, people decorated Christmas trees with apples and paper toys, and according to the Jewish tradition during Rosh Hashanah apples were dipped in honey to symbolize a fruitful and sweet year to come. A growing tradition of celebrating Christmas in China is more and more associated with giving a gift-wrapped apple for Christmas Eve.  

      Besides being part of the holidays, the apple is a central point of various celebrations dedicated to cider, apple pies, and other apple dishes and beverages, as well as apple festivals, and apple-picking days. Some regions and countries celebrate Apple Blossom Days in spring, while others have AppleFest during harvest season in fall. In many northwestern countries, apples were the only winter fruit for many centuries, and those places have Apple Days during the cold winter months. One way or another, apples have special days across all seasons.
